Windows 7 is the most popular OS on STEAM

Steam has published the latest data from the traditional survey of components and software that performs each month on its users and as we can see in the first image Windows 7 is the most used operating system.

Its share is 68.50%, a huge figure that allows it to more than double Windows 10, both in their 64-bit versions.

No doubt, Windows 7 is the most used operating system on Steam, but by making a general calculation we see that the share recorded by all versions of the Microsoft operating system amounts to 98.31 %, which translates into an absolute domain.

For its part, OSX barely reaches 1.33% share and Linux registers 0.28%. They are low figures, but looking at the positive side we see that both operating systems grew by 0.02% and 0.03% respectively during the month of February.

As far as hardware is concerned, the domain of Intel and NVIDIA is more than evident. The second image reflects it perfectly.

This image also shows that quad-core processors are the most used (71.99%) and that despite Ryzen’s push the AMD processors barely reached the 9.12% share.

For the rest there are no surprises, the GTX 1060 of NVIDIA is still the most used graphics card and the predominant configurations are those of 8 GB of RAM, more than 1 TB of storage capacity and 1080p resolution.

It is striking that we do see that the most used language is simplified Chinese, something that we can attribute to the enormous popularity in China of games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
