Motorola changes its mind: the Moto G4 are left without their Oreo ration

Moto G4

Motorola introduced a few days ago the list of devices that will officially update to Android 8.0 Oreo and between them, we were missing a mobile that we all thought it would upgrade.

There are the Moto Z2, Moto Z, and Moto G5, however, they do not enter into the update plans of Motorola or the latest Moto E or Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, mobile with less than two years that should enter the cycle of insured updates offered by manufacturers.

Motorola promised to update the Moto G4 to Android O

Nine months ago the Moto G4 updated to Android 7.0 Nougat being among the first in the mid-range to do so. In fact, it was announced as devices with Moto Pure experience, close to Android Pure and with guaranteed updates to Android N and Android O.

That is, at the time of their submission we were promised to upgrade to Android 8.0, now however in the list of devices does not appear.

To further complicate matters Motorola has removed references to this update in its presentation pages. Where before clearly stated that they would upgrade to Android O, now there is only reference to Android N, the version they already have.

All this, however, seems to us a small marketing maneuver. Usually, it is customary that in the initial plans of updates always leave some device out since they are still working on it. Android 8.1 Oreo will soon arrive with more security measures and integrated APIs so Motorola could take advantage of its arrival to extend the list and offer it also in Moto G4.

From the own Motorola India assure that yes it will receive Android 8.0 Oreo and is that thinks that there the manufacturer has a lot of presence but also pure Android counts with very good acceptance.

Many users would see it as a clear step back and we do not doubt that in the end, Motorola will offer its ration of Oreo to the millions of users who bet on the Moto G4.
