The surprising reason that British spies were using abusive databases

Intelligence services in Britain have recognized a number of private documents obtained by the organization Privacy International , many of the information collected is not of interest for security , writes The Guardian.

These include checking addresses of friends to send birthday greetings

The organization Privacy International has acquired the data of spy agency British and MI5 , MI6 , GCHQ , showing that intelligence collected since the late 1990s, numerous private data that were of interest to national security.

Documents show that British spies were warned abusing their power to come into possession of personal information then used for their own purposes , including the addresses of friends to send birthday greetings .

In one of them they were warned not to ” outdo measure” and not abuse the data obtained , writes Business Insider .
