Snapdragon announced a new chipset for mobile devices that is designed especially for integration of ‘wearables’.
This is called Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor wants to set the standard for new SmartWatch sites, providing higher efficiency and smaller at a high-performance level to what is found in watches from the market. Integrating new Snapdragon Wear 2100 could bring itself devices with more compact design and long battery life.
According to Qualcomm, the new Snapdragon Wear is 30% lower than the Snapdragon 400 chipset adopted by most manufacturers of Android Wear watches. It also uses 25% less electricity.
Companies that adopt this chipset will be able to realize smaller models of watches that provide high service life, many potential users SmartWatch devices were disappointed by the size and weight of existing products.
Snapdragon Wear 2100 will be delivered in both a WiFi and 3G or LTE, and integrated sensors will consume less power and provide higher accuracy. It seems that we will not only find this processor in the handheld devices.
It is quite able to even run the full version of Android, and can be integrated with other smart devices, such as Internet of Things or ancillary systems similar to Google Glass.
Companies can already order hardware producer of such chips, LG already announcing that developing new SmartWatch devices based on it. It seems that the first products Snapdragon Wear 2100 will reach the market only in the second half of this year, but it is possible to see some prototypes at Mobile World Congress 2016 which takes place in late February.
